COPYWRITING

WHAT IS COPYWRITING?

Copywriting is writing copy (text) for the purpose of advertising or marketing a product, business, person, opinion or idea. The reader of the copy should be persuaded to buy the product or service advertised or to subscribe to the viewpoint shared in the text.

HOW I CAN HELP

As Publications Officer at St John's College, Cambridge, I created the copy for a range of publications, including Johnian News and The Eagle. This process involved copywriting, copy-editing and proofreading, overseeing the content creation from start to finish. As a freelancer, I worked for international animal charity FOUR PAWS, creating copy (often at short notice) for their press releases, website, letters and social media pages.

I produce daily social media posts (on Facebook) for The Sanctuary Angels (www.thesanctuaryangels.com), a small voluntary organisation that raises vital funds for animal rescue (which I run in my spare time). I also create and maintain all of the copy for our website and campaigns. Finally, I get to indulge my passion for writing in the form of blogs and posts for Perfect Words. I like to write about grammar and life (and other things). You will find all of my blogs here, and you can follow my weekly posts (life and grammar hacks) here (on LinkedIn). I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I love writing them.
