COPY-EDITING
WHAT IS COPY-EDITING?
Copy-editing typically takes place after developmental and line editing and before proofreading. The copy-editor fixes errors related to spelling and grammar, tone and style inconsistencies, and poor syntax and word choice. The process can involve fact-checking and formatting. And reducing wordiness, jargon and waffle to create plain English. Copy-editing is both mechanical and creative. It involves the fine details and the bigger picture.
